Wing Chun Gung Fu
Wing Chun is the central art in an exciting new multidisciplinary self-defense course. This class offers an enriched program integrating theory, technique and tactics from several complementary martial arts systems so as to optimize skill acquisitions and ability. These systems are listed below. This course is geared to provide students with a theory and skills package as well as enhance their strength, endurance and flexibility.
Wing Chun Gung Fu - A revolutionary self-defense developed by Ng Mui, a Buddhist, as a method for short-circuiting other Kung Fu systems. It places special emphasis on close-range fighting and is feared for its lightning-fast hand-trapping strategies.
Jun Fan Gung Fu - Developed by Bruce Lee as a means of expanding the tactical options around Wing ChunÃZs focus on trap-driven close-range combat. It is a fusion of BoxingÃZs close- and mid-range repertoire, Ju-jitsuÃZs grappling art, and the long, mid, and close-range disciplines of Savate and Muay Thai.
Jeet Kune Do- Also developed by Sijo Bruce Lee to equity trainees with the analytical skills necessary for quick problem solving, and the tactical and strategic repertoire essential to the execution of the solutions. Kali- Centuries old, the Filipino warrior arts number in the hundreds an dare known by many names, most commonly as Kali, Escrima, and Arnis de Mano. These systems contain a vast repertoire of traditional weapon methods such as sword, spear, whip, etc. The course being taught at Concordia focuses on those aspects most relevant to modern self-defense, ie. the knife and short stick, and a full range of unarmed training including grappling, takedowns, throws, and nerve striking methods.
